Beth Moses and her dog Melon

My first diagnosis with breast cancer was in 1991.  After 23 years, the demon returned.  Upon hearing the news, I put on my pink boxing gloves and proceeded to fight just as I always have . . .

Hi, I'm Beth Moses, founder of Melon's Gift.  I started my personal crusade against cancer after my initial diagnosis with this dreadful disease. When my 50th birthday was nearing, I decided to take on the challenge of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-day, 60 mile walk.  To participate in this powerful event,
I needed to raise over $2,000. Thus began the concept of "The Fun Dog Show". My beloved "Melon", a special need Akita, was my inspiration for an event that would celebrate the family dog. My little fundraiser took place in a local park and has since exploded into an annual community event that boasts a huge following.  My passion for dogs combined with my dedication to finding a cure for cancer is a perfect formula.
The success of the "Fun Dog Show" helped create "Melon's Gift"; a philanthropic foundation that has allowed the hosting of other community events.  With the continued assistance of many incredible and dedicated volunteers, we have expanded our goal to assist reputable cancer organizations in their respective missions.  Throughout my cancer free years, I have been blessed to meet many extraordinary people who have been by my side to assist me with my goals.  Many of these wonderful individuals have impressed me as they face their own battles of living with the physical and emotional realities of being survivors of cancer.  Together we have expanded our philanthropy to support patient services in our community, while still maintaining a bit of "fun" in our annual events.

The courage and determination that I have seen will be my inspiration in fighting my latest battle.  I will heal and recover with a fresh determination to stamp out the disease of cancer.  I will continue to raise funds to assist in research and patient services.  I will again be part of the cure.  I am a SURVIVOR and I am going to "Fight Like a Girl" to stay healthy and make a difference in our community.

Contributions to Melon's Gift are always appreciated.  All contributions are tax deductible
and can be used to honor or memorialize a loved one. An acknowledgment  will be sent
